Last night’s rain is today’s flooding

Fine Art Friday

It’s not exactly fine art, more like news, but it was worth photographing. The weather gave us something to be concerned about–too much rain. The ground is already saturated, so more rain just means runoff. Yesterday, the forecast was for heavy rains overnight and flood warnings today.

I ventured out with the camera and recorder to examine the water level of the Little Miami River.

Photo tip to produce fisheye landscapes

Fine Art Friday

One of the reasons I bought the Canon 5D MkII was to have full use of all my lenses with that full-frame sensor. I have tried most of my lenses on the camera, but I really hadn’t played with the 15mm/2.8 Fisheye Lens. A full frame gives you the widest palette for this lens. With the 15 on the 5D, I headed out to shoot some landscapes.

Here’s a few tips for how to use this lens or one like it.

See you on the highway.

Reminiscing about baseball

Itโ€™s February. Professional baseball players are reporting for spring training in the various training facilities in Arizona and Florida where the fields are clear of snow and the grass green. It has been several years since I have gone to Arizona to photograph spring training and maybe catch a couple of games in the Arizona Cactus League.

Here in the Midwest, the ballparks are thawing, and it will not belong before teams are in the dugouts and fans are in the stands. Opening day for baseball is about six weeks away.
