Ride to Caesar Creek Lake and State Park

A day of relief from bad weather. So it was time to roll out the Moto Guzzi V7 and get some helmet time. Destination? One of my favorite places for a ride, Caesar Creek Lake and State Park. The roads to and from are country, curvy and constant.

Boat ramp on Caesar Creek Lake.
Dam and spill way letting out quite a bit of water.
Brent on the bridge over Caesar Creek below the dam. There is good hiking in the gorge.

BTW, last Friday, I learned my new Moto Guzzi would be at a truck terminal in town by end of day, and it should be at the dealer this week!!

See you on the highway.

The waters of Caesar Creek Gorge called my name
and the siren call was too much to bear.

The motorcycle waiting patiently in the garage called my name
and the siren call was too much to bear.

Which call should I listen to?
Which leisurely activity will win this battle?

โ€œBoth,โ€ I said.
And so I gave in to the siren calls.

Hiking at the Caesar Creek Nature Preserve

Sometimes, I just have to combine two of my favorite pastimesโ€”motorcycling and hiking. And so I found myself on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, motorcycling one my favorite roads to a favorite hiking spot, Caesar Creek Nature Preserve.

G10--11

I entered the trail and wound my way along the creek, observing how high the water is and how fast it was running. Clearly, the Army Corps of Engineers has increased the output at the dam, just a couple of miles up creek.

G10--5

There was only one other car in the parking lot, itโ€™s occupants nowhere to be seen. Itโ€™s like I had all the trails to myself. How serene!

G10--8

See you on the highway.
